Teshekpuk Lake Observatory Study Domain
The Teshekpuk Lake Observatory study domain encompasses the lake's watershed as determined with a 5 m resolution digital surface model as well as the outlet of the lake that extends to the coast at the Ikpikpuk River Delta and the lake-rich and ice-rich permafrost landscape north of the lake and also extending to the Beaufort Sea coast. The TLO study domain encompasses more than 6,000 sq. km.

Teshekpuk Lake Observatory Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring (CALM) Grid
CALM grid was established at the TLO in August 2020 using methods from the NSF-funded Circumpolar Active Layer Monitoring Program. A 100 x 100 m grid was established with a differential GPS. Three thaw depth measurements were recorded using a graduated steel probe at each node and the average thaw depth calculated. Notes on relative landscape position and water depth (if present) were noted. We also began to collect late winter snow depth data at the CALM grid in 2021.

Teshekpuk Lake Observatory Study Domain - Lakes and Ponds
Lakes and ponds (> 1 ha in area) within the Teshekpuk Lake Observatory study domain were extracted from a 5 m resolution digital surface model acquired in the year 2002. The dataset includes more than 5,000 lakes and ponds with Teshekpuk Lake accounting for 43 % of the lake and pond area in the study domain. Details on extraction methods are provided in Jones et al. 2020.

Teshekpuk Lake Bathymetry Data
This dataset represents a compilation of point depth measurements collected in Teshekpuk Lake between 1991 and 2021 using a combination of sonar observations and plumb lines. Data sources are noted in the attribute table. The perimeter of the lake was digitized in 2002 digital orthophotos to represent the zero depth. The dataset does not account for annual or seasonal variability in water level.

UAV Survey Datasets
We have been acquiring UAV survey datasets at the TLO to map erosion of the lake shoreline, document and track ice wedge degradation, measure snow depth, and to image variability in NDVI across landforms of varying ages and also across years and seasons. Download orthomosaics below:
